Committee A: Digital Divide and Access to Technology (12 delegates)
In this committee, 12 delegates from five different regions will explore the challenges related to the digital divide in the context of shared economy platforms. Delegates will discuss how access to technology and the internet may impact the ability of certain communities or regions to participate in the shared economy, and consider strategies to bridge this gap for more inclusive participation.
Committee B: Impact on Local Communities and Housing (12 delegates)
In this committee, 12 delegates from five different regions will delve into the social and economic impacts of the shared economy on local communities, particularly in terms of housing availability and affordability. Delegates will discuss how the rapid growth of short-term rentals, like Airbnb, may contribute to rising housing costs and housing shortages, and discuss potential solutions or regulations to address these issues.
Committee C: Quality Control and Safety (12 delegates )
In this committee, 12 delegates from five different region will explore the challenges associated with maintaining quality and safety standards in the shared economy. Delegates will discuss the varying quality of accommodations, transportation, and other services offered through sharing platforms. Delegates will consider the role of user reviews and ratings in ensuring quality and safety and how these mechanisms can be improved.
Committee D: Sustainability and Overtourism (12 delegates)
In this committee, 12 delegates from five different regions will discuss how the shared economy contributes to the problem of overtourism in popular destinations. Delegates will discuss the environmental and cultural impacts of increased tourist numbers in these areas and create strategies to promote sustainable tourism practices and mitigate the negative effects of over-tourism, such as through regulations, taxes, or community engagement.
